The 2008 Sandblast rally marks the start of the season for team Quattrohaus. Two cars and two motorcycles will fly the team colors in what is shaping up to be a very attractive and competitive rally. A total of 85 entries will fight not only the clock, but also the sandy twists of the Sand hills National Forest. The event is based in the town of Cheraw, with racing sections spreading out to Patrick and Chesterfield South Carolina.
Jose M. Vicente will be debuting a newly built Super Stock class Audi A4 1.8t Quattro. This event will also mark his return behind the wheel after a 6 year hiatus. Co-driving duties will be handled by the 2005 M2 Eastern States co-driving champion and Quattrohaus friend Robert Maciejski. Their goal for this event is to simply finish and sort out some of the development aspects of the car. Hopefully by the later part of the event the Audi can begin to hold it's own amongst the flock of Subarus which have dominated the class over the last few years.
Hampton Bridwell and Josh Katinger return to the Stages to challenge for the 2008 Eastern States Championship. After a successful 2007, where they managed a second place finish in the Rally spec Focus cup and the USRC Production class, the blackrock rally pair return in the now familiar black SVT Ford Focus with the same goals in mind. 2007 saw a tremendous improvement in their speed and thru out the year they quickly climbed out from the back of the pack to becoming regular class winners. A season that started with a disappointing DNF at the 2007 Sandblast rally turned north and culminated with three class wins and a second place at the National level.
Luis Figueiredo will continue his progression in the highly competitive world of Rallymoto. After sampling rallying on two wheels for the first time at the 2007 Black River Stages, Luis was immediately hooked, and has already worked out a plan to compete in the entire 2008 Rallymoto championship. The trusty Suzuki has been retired and replaced by a state of the art KTM640, a bike which will no doubt help him improve on his already impressive debut performance. Although new to Rallymoto, Luis is now stranger to the sport of rallying. His involvement goes back over 12 years, and holds a very respectable co-driving resume with over 20 national, regional, and international rallyes in the US and Canada under his belt.
Miguel Boullosa will be the latest addition to the Quattrohaus team. An avid motorcyclist and motorsport fan in general, Miguel decided to try Rallymoto after purchasing a Suzuki DRZ400 and shaking it down at the Kearney Village Rally Sprint. 2008 Sandblast will be his maiden rally, and as it should be for any first timer his goal is to simply make it to the last time control of the day, and try to have as much fun as possible doing it. Miguel will race in selected 2008 Rallymoto events.
